Geometry Optimization of a Redox Flow Battery Stack
Coupled shunt-current and pump-loss modeling in OpenModelica
A system-level OpenModelica model package for evaluating geometry-dependent parasitic losses in a redox flow battery stack.
The package couples shunt-current loss estimation with hydraulic pressure-drop and pump-power calculations. Channel length and manifold diameter are used as geometric design parameters to evaluate their effect on total parasitic loss.
The example demonstrates how coupled system modeling can support early-stage design trade-off studies, where reducing one loss mechanism may increase another

Important Notes
This package is a simplified tutorial and demonstration model for learning and workflow development.
It is not a validated industrial redox flow battery design tool. Results depend on the selected assumptions, parameter values, geometry ranges, and objective function.
